Rita grew up with a lot of dysfunction in her home as her parents were both alcoholics. Growing up in a migrant family and feeling a little rebellious Rita became a recreational drug and alcohol user in her late teens and early twenties. Her dad stopped drinking but her mum struggled with giving up. After lots of therapy she found recovery after spending some time in Alcoholics Anonymous, Adult Children of Alcoholics and Al-Anon Family Groups.
