Our second instalment of this Summer Season features a remastered archival interview with Norm Wallace (1926-2018), former BLF Branch Treasurer and organiser, conducted by Bobby Mancor, Shirley Winton and Andy Wallace around the kitchen table in 2015.
Part 1 of this interview features discussion of his family history and early life in the western suburbs of Melbourne, working as a paperboy during the depression and later in various factories (including his first strike as a boy at Commonwealth Fertilisers), and later joining the army in 1942 at 15 years old. This history includes his in-depth recollections of life (and the good old days of Footscray manufacturing), shifts in ideas during WWII, and much more, finishing up when he was discharged from the army at the ripe old age of 20. Stay tuned for Part 2, which will be published on the evening of Friday 26th January, 2024.
You can also check out the publication Never Powerless, which Norm was an important part of producing.
