Indigenous Education Foundation, the inside of a grass root solution

Monday, 22 February 2016 - 10:30am to 11:00am

While on a surf expedition to the tropical islands of Mentawai in Indonesia, filmmaker Rob Henry finds himself immersed between two starkly different local communities – an impoverished government-run settlement and a tribal people living traditionally and abundantly in the jungle. IEF aim is to help displaced indigenous peoples build a better future by supporting them in their development of educational solutions based around the preservation and utilisation of traditional knowledge, customs, and understanding of their localised ecosystems. Filmed over the course of six years, As Worlds Divide takes us on an intimate journey inside these two contrasting ways of life, enabling a personal insight into the issue of indigenous displacement as well as demonstrating the importance this ancient cultural wisdom has in protecting the health and wellbeing of all Mentawai people. Rob has been trained on traditional tatoo making, if you ever dreamed about a tax deductibled tatoo and traditionally made based on the designed you always wanted your dreamed came through so don't be shy and contact him here. peace!
