Interviews with: Tien Chua the vice president of Parti Keadilan (peace) part of the new ruling coalition in Malaysian Government; Pre record Chelsea Manning: Sue Bolton Moreland Councillor

Friday, 7 September 2018 - 7:00am to 8:30am

7am Intro and acknowledgement of country

7:02 am News:

- One construction worker killed and another fighting for his life after crane accident at Box Hill construction site.

- Scott Morrison who called for CFMEU to be deregistered earlier in the week is a massive hypocrite and a transphobe

- Dutton Au Pair scandal rolls on, interesting how it’s the au pairs stuff and not the whole refugee concentration camps thing that might finally bring him down

- Jeremy Corbyn's opponents both within and outside of the British Labour party continue to equate support for Palestine with "anti-Semitism" and use this as a stick to beat him with.

7:14 am Recorded speech: Tien Chua, Vice president of the People's Justice party of Malaysia (Parti Keadilan Rakyat - PKR), talks to a meeting in Melbourne about the change of government in Malaysia. The PKR is the largest party in the centre left "Alliance of hope" government that as recently elected, ending decades of government by the right win national front ruling party.

7:35 am pre-recorded discussion with US whistle-blower Chelsea Manning, who spoke with Jackson and James from 3CR breakfast. Manning will address a meeting at Melbourne convention centre tonight after she was effectively denied a visa by the Australian government.

745am Jacob and Zane speak with Moreland Councillor Sue Bolton about the gross double standards of media and police coverage of fascist terrorist threat. Neo Nazi Phillip Galea is facing committal hearing over threats to carry out terrorist attacks on left wing offices in Melbourne including Victoria Trades Hall, Melbourne Anarchist Centre and the Resistance Centre.

8am activist calendar

8:08 am Jacob and Zane speak with Ballyn Teagle, a young Newcastle activist and member of Frontline Action Against Coal who stopped coal train movements this week by suspending himself in a tripod over a rail line. The "act up" week of protests is happening in Newcastle from September 12-16 and will seek to further highlight the need for a transition away from coal using nonviolent direct action.

820am Jacob reviews the new film Black Klansman, which depicts the true story of an African American policeman who infiltrated the KKK. The film has many positives but is problematic in its depiction of the police as a force for good in the fight against racism and fascism.
