Climate Change: A Housing Issue

Wednesday, 23 October 2019 - 5:30pm to 6:00pm
An elderly white woman at a protest holds a sign reading "Destroy the patriarchy, not the planet"

After HAAG members and workers joined the climate strike on September 20, I wanted to find out more about the connections between climate change and older people's housing. In this episode I talk to Emma from the Brotherhood of St Laurence about their Equity and Climate Change project, and what climate justice and housing justice have in common. If you'd like to learn more about climate change, during this episode we also discuss COTA Vic's Green Sages, "older Victorians who are helping to lead change, taking action together to improve environmental sustainability and address the impacts of climate change". As always, you can call HAAG on 1300 765 178 or 9654 7389 if you'd like to talk about anything we brought up on the show.

Dozens of HAAG members and staff stand in front of a quilted banner, their first raised in the air. The banner reads Housing for the Aged Action Group, housing for the aged is a right not a privilege.
