Loki Lockwood's Velatine project has come to fruition with the addition of chanteuse Maggie Alley on vocals and the release of the brilliant dark but self-assured album I Won't Be Civilised. Loki is a self-proclaimed lifer of the Australian music scene, since he graduated in music from Box Hill Tech he's played in bands, playing in dives like the Seaview Ballroom the P.O.W. in St Kilda.
Loki became an accomplished live and studio engineer and was mentored by the legendary Tony Cohen. He set up up an independent label Spooky Records, releasing classic albums by the likes of Spencer P. Jones, The Drones and The Beasts Of Bourbon.
Collaborative guest vocalist and established singer-songwriter Maggie Alley has been developing her voice and songwriting talent described on the ABC as akin to "a young PJ Harvey or Patti Smith at just 20. She's currently working on her debut album due later in 2023, with contributions from Matt Walker of Lost Ragas, Fenn Wilson and George Wilson from Pollyman.
