The Harcourt Organic Farming Co-op, on Djarra country, Central Victoria, is 'a collaboration of diverse organic farmers who lease land on a single farm at Harcourt'. The farm is owned by Katie Finlay whose family has been growing fruit in the area for three generations. Although the land is leased to farmers according to the usual legal arrangements, members act as a co-operative. On today's episode Katie explains how this model works. She discusses the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) system by which some of the produce is sold to the local community, and also some of the challenges faced by small scale farmers.
