3CR’s annual Radiothon is coming from 1–14 June - it's time for you to Activate The Airwaves!

In a political landscape where media barons and mining magnates have been known to make or break governments, it’s crucial that we get information that’s unfiltered by corporate interests. For almost 40 years, 3CR Community Radio has staked out a vital place on the airwaves, allowing us to bring news, analysis, music and the voices of literally hundreds of community groups to the people of Melbourne 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Now in its 39^th year, 3CR is a local institution and gateway for empowering those often denied a voice in the mainstream media.

3CR is well placed to provide a serious account of what’s happening in the world because our broadcasters are active participants in it. Our broadcasters are Indigenous activists fighting the closure of remote communities; they’re CFMEU officials, disability activists and East-West tunnel picketers. Our independence means we are able to provide news and analysis from the ground up, without worrying about what advertisers will think or what the ratings or opinion polls say because the issues we cover on-air are determined by people in the community.
