718am Zane interviews MUA assistant Victorian Secretary Jeff Hoy regarding strike action being taken by QUBE workers at Webb dock(link is external). The action comes 20 years after the historic Patricks dispute rocked the waterfront but contrary to media reports is anything but an arbitrary "celebration" of that bruising encounter. Workers are being forced to work excessively long shifts and want the return of a roster mandated in their EBA which provides some respite from the workers gruelling duties.

QUBE have threated to follow other companies and terminate the agreement if the workers don't back down and accept continuing to working their excessive and random rosters of 12 hour shifts that jump from day shift to night shift and back again every week. This would result in the workers reverting to the award, which would be a massive pay cut.
