This week Meg and Kevin talk with Debbie Carruthers (from Mine-Free Glenaladale) about the proposed 1600 km2 mineral sands mine in East Gippsland, by Kalbar Operations Pty Ltd.
We discuss the concerns surrounding radioactive and carcinogenic dust contaminants for the local community and ecosystems, as well as a major agricultural zone that produces much of Melbourne's food supply.
Say NO to this mineral sands and rare earths mine by:
1. Writing a submission in response to Kalbar's Environmental Effects Statement (closes 29th October 2020)
2. Signing these petitions (here and here)
3. Reading, printing, distributing this flyer, outlining the issues of concern with this mine proposal
4. Joining Mine-Free Glenaladale's email list to keep informed and obtain the guide for writing a submission when it is available:
