Exploring sexual assault, consent and the puzzling Craig McLachlan decision

Friday, 19 March 2021 - 10:00am to 10:30am

Lately the news has been full of women’s stories of sexual assault and harassment, and the dominant culture that normalises and promotes it.

This follows 2020, the year of the Me Too movement, when thousands of women shared their stories of sexual harassment and abuse in shows of solidarity.

So it was strange to read about the ‘not guilty’ verdict on the Craig McLachlan case in December, relating to charges of indecent assault.

Jennifer interviews Professor Jeremy Gans from Melbourne Law School to help us understand the reasoning behind this decision and some of the implications.
