Outsourcing the work of government, while private companies get fat on our money

Friday, 23 September 2022 - 10:00am to 10:30am

Jacques and Jennifer talk about the outsourcing of things that are traditionally done by government on the people's behalf. This has escalated over the last few decades with the neoliberal idea that the market does everything best. The consequences are corrosion of our democracy, and the incapacity of our government to respond to urgent issues of the day like pandemics, fires and floods. Meanwhile a few private consultancies grow fat on the public purse.
