Powder Monkeys were one of Australia’s classic punk rock groups on par with Rose Tattoo, The Saints, X and Radio Birdman, sadly also a train wreck waiting to happen following the lead of Jimi Hendrix, Sex Pistols and Nirvana.

If you were fortunate enough to witness the classic power rock trio Powder Monkeys on a great night with Tim Hemensley, John Nolan, and Timmy Jack Ray, you were treated to a chaotic spectacle where the pure spirit of rock 'n' roll shone through.

Powder Monkeys released three studio albums along with numerous live recordings, singles, and EPs on labels like Dogmeat Records, Dropkick, Alive, Death Valley, Bang, and others.

Timmy Jack Ray served as the drummer for Powder Monkeys for a decade. 

He also was a member of Truckhead, Surfin' Poobars, the Roobs, and guested with Spencer P. Jones & the Last Gasp, the Pete Wells Band and The Yes Men.
