Cindy Baxter, Senior Communications Advisor with Climate Analytics, joined us to discuss the organisation's recently released 'Australia's global fossil fuel carbon footprint' report, which reveals the massive scale of Australia's domestic and international carbon impact via both local consumption and export-associated emissions. Cindy has been with Climate Analytics for 12 years, and has been working on global climate change issues for the past 33 years. This week's excerpt is the final part of our conversation, and touches on the importance of resisting liberal reformism and academic and non-profit complicity in state violence and what it means to build a culture of resistance centering the experiences of unhoused community members. Matt Landolfo, Victorian Campaigns Manager for the Wilderness Society, spoke with us about the afterlife of Vic Forests and about the potential and pitfalls of pushes for improved federal environmental protection oversight. While Vic Forests ceased to exist on 30 June 2024 after years of campaigning by environmental justice advocates fighting its destruction of Victorian native forests, the emergence of a new organisation called The Healthy Forests Foundation has left many in the environmental justice space asking questions (check out ABC’s investigative report on the organisation here). At the same time, a current senate inquiry into a suite of bills proposing to establish a federal Environmental Protection Agency may provide an opportunity to bolster native forest stewardship efforts.//

Community member Amber joined us to talk about the upcoming autonomous rally for trans liberation scheduled for this coming Saturday August 17 from 12-2PM outside Parliament House. The rally will counter an event being held at the same time and location by a trans-exclusionary radical feminist group.
