Rob Griffiths' favourite song is "Waterloo Sunset" by The Kinks, Dr Gonzo concurs. Similarly, he's a transplanted pommie and passionate music fanatic who has excelled in the music scene. Rob formed legendary Melbourne bands The Fiction and Little Murders, releasing albums and singles on Bruce Milne’s Au Go-Go Records and Mick Baty’s Off The Hip label. These bands quickly became staples of the Melbourne music scene, known for their innovative sound and energetic performances.
In addition to his success as a musician, Rob was a successful DJ for many years. He brought his eclectic taste and deep knowledge of music to local club nights, including his own Lizard Lounge, where he became a beloved figure in Melbourne's nightlife.
Rob’s musical journey began with his first band, Subway, which played at the same venues as Nick Cave’s group The Boys Next Door in 1977. These early experiences provided a foundation for his later successes and allowed him to witness the evolution of Melbourne's music scene firsthand. Nearly half a century later, Rob Griffiths is still playing and releasing albums with The Fiction and Little Murders, demonstrating his enduring passion and creativity.
Rob has also documented his rich and varied experiences in his memoir, "Don’t Let Go." The book provides an intimate look into his life, starting with his childhood in the UK. It delves into his early love of pop music, his adventures in forming and leading bands, and his reflections on the music industry. Through "Don’t Let Go," readers gain insight into the highs and lows of Rob's musical journey and the personal stories that have shaped his career.

Rob Griffiths' story is one of passion, perseverance, and a deep love for music. His contributions to Melbourne's music scene and his ability to inspire others through his work ensure that his legacy will continue to resonate for years to come.

Rob Griffiths joins Dr Gonzo to talk about his memoir "Don’t let go" and play songs from his musical history on And This One's Introduced By...
