David Bramwell is a captivating figure—a British writer, performer, and broadcaster known for his BBC radio programs that delve into the weird and wonderful, covering topics from Ivor Cutler to time travel and the mesmerizing murmurations of starlings.
As the founder of the Cheeky Guides, Bramwell crafts guidebooks that celebrate the quirky, entertaining, and saucy sides of towns, offering tips on everything from attending séances and spotting local celebrities to finding late-night egg and chips or the best fetish underwear.
Bramwell is also the singer-songwriter of the Brighton band Oddfellow's Casino, known for their tuneful, anglocentric, and mildly experimental electro-acoustic pop. Their music connects the dots between Pentangle and The Pet Shop Boys, Basil Kirchin and British Sea Power. In 2017, At The Helm Records released their album Oh Sealand, featuring the voice of celebrated author Alan Moore and a sea shanty choir, with an unofficial anthem for the independent principality of Sealand, located 6 miles off the coast of England.
