Jeff Williams is a true gem in Melbourne's vibrant music scene, boasting nearly 40 years of guitar playing and songwriting!
He co-founded the influential alt-country band Acuff’s Rose in 1989, featuring talented members like Kaye-Louise Patterson, Jack Coleman, Bruce Kane, Martin Lewis, and Gerard Rohan. Acuff’s Rose played a pivotal role in shaping Melbourne's early music landscape, with standout releases such as the EP Long Past Dawn and albums Never Coming Down and Son of the North Wind.
In 1996, Jeff and Kaye took their music to France, promoting their work through live performances and radio appearances. Afterward, Jeff went solo, releasing the acoustic album Clear Space and forming the Clear Spacemen, whose album White Under Green won Australian Album of the Year in 2001.
In 2012, Jeff joined Mark Ferrie’s band The Renovators, where they engaged in improvised songwriting, resulting in four limited edition albums.
Fast forward to 2024, and Jeff is back on stage with the Jeff Williams Trio. Featuring Jeff on vocals and electric guitar, along with Bruce Kane on drums and Phil Kakulas on double bass, the trio offers an edgier take on Jeff’s extensive musical catalog.
