The Ukrainian Tennis Federation has issued a directive to its players at Wimbledon, that if they happen to come up against a player from Russia or Bellarus, they are not to shake hands after the match out of respect for their fellow Ukrainians fighting life and death battles back home. It adds that the players are not obligated to comply. It raises the question for us, "What would you do?" Is there a better way to express your protest?
Watching the Tour de France it occured to us (a couple of years late) that something has changed at the podium presentations. What has happened to the podium girls and the awkward simultaneous double cheek kiss? What other sports have had gratuitous patriachal customs quietly removed? F1 grid girls for instance...
