We hear an excerpt from the Virtual Progress 2020 conference where Dr Jackie Huggins speaks on Bla(c)k Lives Matter and the incarceration of First Nations women. Jackie Huggins is a Bidjara and Birri-Gubba Juru woman and a celebrated author, historian, and former Co-Chair of National Congress of Australia’s First Peoples.

 

We hear a selection of interviews from Dame Phyllis Frost Prison and Loddon/Middleton Prison as part of the Beyond the Bars broadcast series which began in 2002, and cannot be delivered as per normal in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. 

 

We hear Part 2 of an interview with Reyvi from the Philippines Australia Solidarity Association (PASA) who speaks with Thursday Breakfast about the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Filipino students and other international students in so-called Australia and the importance of grassroots migrant community organising. 

 

We play an exercept from 3CR's Diaspora Blues where Ayan Shirwa interviews a resident in one of the lockdown public housing towers. 3CR Thursday Breakfast host Priya further discusses the Victorian Government's policy to heavily restrict the movement of residents in 9 public housing towers across Melbourne, as well as community-led initiatives supporting and caring for residents affected by these punitive restrictions.
