End-of-life Care: Voluntary Assisted Dying in Victoria

On 29 November 2017, the Victorian Parliament passed the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2017(link is external), which has come to effect in 2019.  We open this show with a poem, Things about Dying(link is external) by Maxine Beneba Clarke(link is external), first published in the print edition of the Saturday Paper(link is external) on June 22, 2019. We speak with Colleen Hartland(link is external), a former Australian politician and advocate for voluntary assisted dying. We also speak with Dr Neera Bhatia(link is external), an Associate Professor at Deakin Law School.
