Val and Faith are joined in the studio by this week's studio guest, John Symons of Bike West. We all share our bike moments and in the process cover cover the return of the swoopy boys of spring, punt rides under the Westgate Bridge and the joy of getting young triplets on bikes.
In news we briefly mention the Merri-bek Transport Startegy currently up for consultation. You can read all about it at the link and if you live, work or play in Merri-bek take part in the survey.
Conversation turns to the Parliamentary Inquiry into the Imapact of Road Safety Behaviours on Vulnerable Road Users that is currently underway in Victoria. With 288 submissions the Inquiry's Public Hearings commence this week with two sessions; one at Parliament House on Tuesday August 8th and one in Merri-bek on Wednesday August 9th. (Click on each link to see a list of organisations and people attending) All sessions are open to the public and will be streamed live so keep an eye on this link for details.
John talks about Bike West's submission, why they thought it was important to take part in the Inquiry, problems they have identified with Victoria's stance on road safety and ultimately what he hopes might result fromthe Inquiry.
You can read the terms of reference for the inquiry here and watch hearings live from here.
