3CR's Girls Radio Offensive loves Melbourne punk! In order to keep promoting the punk scene for another year, they're holding the Stinkfest benefit gig this Saturday 6 April. The fact that it just happens to coincide with Dale's (Girls Radio Offensive programmer) 40th birthday is a mere cherry on top!
3CR needs an organised and motivated person to help us with our annual Radiothon fundraiser. Our Radiothon is a two-week appeal to encourage listeners and supporters to keep this unique and independent community radio station on air. Each year we employ a Radiothon Worker to support staff and programmers with our fundraising efforts. This years appeal runs from June 3-16, plus the special Gardening Radiothon on June 23. The position is a fixed-term contract for 11 weeks from April to July.
Join 3CR's Roominations this Friday 22 March as we broadcast live from the Where the Heart Is Festival, a festival especially for the homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged in our community. Join us as we give a voice to the voiceless as well as celebrate the lives of a community of people usually abused and dismissed by mainstream society. Tune in from 12-2pm and learn more about the realities of living below the poverty line.
Did you know that you can now listen to your favourite 3CR show anytime? 3CR now has audio On Demand on our program pages to make catching your favourite shows even easier. You can also now share shows and information with your friends, plus you can still post your community event to our calendar, and listen to the latest podcasts.
3CR launched its digital radio service in April 2011 - but now community digital radio services across Australia are at risk. The Government committed $2.2 million to fund digital community services for four years, but $3.6 million is required to maintain these services in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. Without action this shortfall means all of the community digital radio services will have to be switched off in at least two of the five capital cities currently broadcasting. It could be Melbourne!
3CR will celebrate International Women's Day on Friday 8 March with 24 hours of women's only programming. Program highlights include live outside broadcasts from the Fitzroy Stars GYM on Gertrude street with 3CR's own Jody Beeton, women's current affairs, music, poetry and much more. See grid or download the word document.
