This amazing, entertaining, intellectually stimulating night is a station fundraiser, so entry is $20 per person. Get along to the Greek Resistance Bulletin fundraiser at Open Studio204 High Street, Northcote 8-11pm on Thursday 12 July. Come and dance the night away with performers from OPEN JAM "Καφενείο". Supporting Greek Resistance Bulletin means supporting independent and radical news and voices and promoting local community artists. The night features Odysseas Krypotos & Yiannis Tsartsaflis (Cats and the Canary), Paschalia Latra, Giorgos Sklavos, Kalliopi Stavropoulos and special guests.

Burning Vinyl

The Old Bar's very own doorman Matt Gleeson has been doing his radio show Burning Vinyl on Fridays 2pm - 4pm for over 15 years now and June is when he's gotta raise some cash to stay on the airwaves. He's made half of what he needs and hopefully we can get him over the edge with this fundraiser show. Matt is at the Oldie pretty much every night of the year seeing every band that plays there. So he very well may be the person who sees more live music than anyone else in Melbourne. He's seen all your bands and probably played them on his show. Come down and help us keep him on air. This Tuesday 26 June at the Old Bar 74-76 Johnston Street, Fitzroy. Claws and Organs, Bodies, Noughts, and Claire Birchall.

The Gardening Show team

Coming up this Sunday 24 June is the Gardening Show Radiothon. 3CR Gardening Show has a cult following and the best environmentally-friendly gardening tips in Melbourne. Going strong for 27 years, the show makes waking up early on Sunday morning worthwhile. The program features an expert panel including Millie Ross, Stephen Ryan, and Gwen and Rodger Elliot and is produced by long-time 3CR volunteer Pam Vardy. Call this Sunday between 7.30 and 10am and donate, then join us at the station at 21 Smith St Fitzroy after the show, 10am til 12noon, to pick up your prizes, have a cuppa and say G'day! 03 9419 8377.

Station Managers Bruce Francis (1989-96) and Rachel Kirby (now)

The world is awash with digital communication, yet there’s never been such a lack of political alternatives. Information is the new commodity and truly alternative visions for justice, equity and sustainability remain elusive. Thankfully, community and alternative media continue to step into the void to fight for community justice, action and alternatives. Despite all that we know about the importance of representation, it is still a revolutionary act to put a mic in the hand of someone denied a voice, and more than four decades later 3CR Community Radio continues to do just that. Fight For Your Mic captures the station’s ongoing commitment to fighting for a better world through the medium of radio, and during our annual Radiothon fundraiser we ask all our supporters to donate so that we can stay radical and independent. Donate now or call the station on 03 9419 8377.

Remember Me artwork by Reko Rennie in North Fitzroy.

National Sorry Day is an annual event that has been held in Australia on 26 May, since 1998. On 26 May 1997, the Bringing Them Home report was tabled in Parliament. First Nations communities and organisations had been campaigning for an inquiry that would address the general public's ignorance of the history of forced removals because it was hindering the recognition of the needs of its victims and their families and the provision of services that they needed.
