Beatsbyblayk and Wicked Women Revisited

Sunday, 8 December 2024 - 3:00pm to 4:00pm
A selfie of Madison and Blayk is scrolled on either side of the banner as if to slightly suggest a roll of film, with a centre tile that features superimposed pictures of Blayk dancing in various poses; with purple stars overlapping the dancing poses and the selfie to the right of the page. Disco neon lettering says "Blayk (he/they), Dancer, Choreographer and influencer. On the bottom left is the 3CR red radio house logo and on the bottom right is the Queering The Air logo.

On this episode of 3CR’s Queering the Air, Madison Moffat chatted with dancer, choreographer and influencer #beatsbyblayk about being queer within the commercial entertainment industry as a trans man and overcoming the stigma and anxiety that can come with it.

We also caught up with Tiger Salmon, the co-founder of the (so legendary, bordering on mythical) 1990's queer women's zine 'Wicked Women'. Madison manages to momentarily push aside her star-stuckedness to speak with them about their latest project where they revisit that important work of the past with an importantly contemporary take.

'Aunty Maddy' also expresses some strong but sincere views regarding lateral violence within the TGDNB community; in light of developments during and following the recent TGD public forum about engagement with the Victorian Police.
