Feminist Readings-Savitri Bai Phule-Writing Home

Saturday, 11 January 2025 - 9:00am to 10:00am

Remembering Savitri Bai Phule on her Jayanti (birthday)

Feminism, for Savitri Bai Phule, was not just about advocating for women’s rights in isolation; it was intrinsically linked with the struggles of the oppressed. She believed that women’s liberation could only be achieved when the shackles of caste, class, and tradition were broken. Through her education and activism, Savitri Bai Phule illuminated the path toward a society where equality was not a distant dream but a tangible reality. Her work resonated far beyond her lifetime, inspiring countless others to challenge entrenched systems of oppression.

“The pen is mightier than the sword. Education is the greatest weapon to eradicate social evils.”

“Awaken, arise, and educate. Smash traditions, liberate minds, and transform society.”
