Formerly incarcerated women
Untold Stories of Injustice is a five-part podcast series that features a collection of interviews, discussions and events highlighting the experiences of folks who have been incarcerated in so-called Victoria, Australia.
In a society that heavily discriminates against people who have been criminalised, treating them as disposable and unworthy, we wanted to provide opportunities for formerly incarcerated people to be heard and listened to with respect curiosity, empathy and understanding. Normally silenced and stigmatised, it was important to give these voices an opportunity to express themselves and have their say in a safe place.
We all know 3CR to be such a place. 3CR understands that the ongoing genocide, enacted by our oppressive systems, continues to harm First Nations people, recognising that our policing, prisons and criminal systems are tools of genocide. We thank 3CR for their ongoing commitment to criminalised people, especially First Nations people.
During the five episodes of Untold Stores of Injustice, you will hear the voices and experiences of the Formerly Incarcerated Girls Justice Advocates Melbourne collective (FIGJAM), otherwise known as ‘Fuck I’m Good Just Ask Me’.

The Accent of Women Outreach project will deliver a dynamic radio training course for up to seven women from culturally diverse, new and emerging communities. The training will take place on Saturday mornings starting 31 August through to 16 November. Each participant will receive a $600 honorarium at the end of the training course. Participants are required to meet all of the course requirements and have attended at least 75% of the training sessions to be eligible to receive the honorarium.

Beyond the Bars is Australia’s only live prison radio series giving voice to First Nations inmates in Victorian jails. Across nearly 20 hours of broadcasting, we get to hear directly from those incarcerated about the issues that are important to them, along with their shout outs to family and friends.
