Sisters Inside

In this episode we travel up to Meanjin, Brisbane for the 10th Sisters Inside Conference, Abolition Feminism Now #FREEHER, taking place in November 2023. We interviewed Renna Gayde a proud Walbunja woman from the Yuin Nation drawing on both professional and lived expertise to advocate for social justice and the elimination of violence against women and children. We spoke with Kaori an independent documentary filmmaker, and nonfiction writer. She chairs a not for profit organisation working with young people in Japanese Detention Centres providing creative outlets for young people who are restricted from speaking while held in cages. We feel very privileged to include an interview with Aunty Vickie Roach for our last interview in the series. Vickie is a proud Yuin women born into the stolen generation who has dedicated her life to prison abolition. We wrap up with a self written and produced rap from Bee ‘won't quit’.
