On this episode of 3CR’s Queering the Air, we had a discussion with TGDNB folks about their experience of creating as part of a group and a community. Madison Moffat interviewed TransCreatives Alex, Arlo and Naavikaran on the joys of communal writing, having one’s work published in a community zine, and celebrating those results at (a still fairly recent) launch event.
Through the use of writing prompts, The TransCreatives (TC) trick themselves and each other once a month into realising that we all have the ability of self-expression. Through The Trans-creator (T-c), that work is published with the minimum of editing, sharing with TGDNB readers the immediacy of that work and its subject matter. On August 2nd, The Trans-creator was launched. Two of our guests presented their work at that launch. A third guest was part of the audience, which inspired them to participate in the next monthly writing session.
The show focused on their work and experiences throughout their TC/T-c process; as always, in their words. We wrapped up proceedings by listening to a song from our guest Naavikaren.
We discovered what The Trans-creator Manifesto is and how it sets this group's ethos of community, care, inclusiveness and expression. “As we are human, so we are creative.”
